Gabe Shelly wrote “Angie” as a story that highlights many of the difficulties victims of brain-injuries have upon trying to return to their previous lives. Using the protagonist of the script, “Angie” is a sample of what some victims might face upon their completion at a rehabilitation center or their return from a hospital. Just before Mr. Shelly’s seventeenth birthday, he was a victim of such an injury when falling asleep at the wheel of his father’s truck. Luckily no one else was hurt, but since that time Mr. Shelly has had to struggle and fight for everything he has lost. The story “Angie” shows us a little of what that was and is.
